These 24 digital task cards touch on Relating Science and Technology to Society and the Environment. The slides are aligned with the Ontario Science Curriculum. The slides ask students to identify the meaning of various safety symbols used on household items. Other slides ask students to assess the safety and precautionary measures that should be taken with household items, such as cleaning products, paint, gasoline and medications. Some slides ask students to assess the impacts on society when liquids and solids change state (ie., rain, sleet, snow, ice) The following curriculum expectations are addressed with these Boom Cards: Understanding Matter and Energy - Properties of Liquids and Solids. 1.1 assess the ways in which liquids and solids in the home are used, stored, and disposed of in terms of the effect on personal safety and the health of the environment, and suggest responsible actions to replace inappropriate practices 1.2 assess the impacts of changes in state of solids and liquids on individuals and society (Freezing rain makes walking and driving dangerous)
