Description: This Boom card set teaches the 18 IRREGULAR Second Grade words one-by-one in alphabetic order. (always, around, because, been, buy, call, does, goes, many, pull, their, these, those, very, wash, work, would, your) First, readers determine if the words are regular or irregular. Then for the irregular words, learners identify non-matching sounds and letters in Elkonin boxes. Next they choose the phonetic spelling. Lastly, students practice the correct spelling. Sounds are provided for directions, whole word sight words, sounding out irregular words, and spelling irregular words. This is a deck for teaching, introducing, and/or explaining the IRREGULAR Second Grade words for students. There are built-in scaffolds to support even the earliest beginning readers.
