Description
Students choose from three people in a quiet café and participate in realistic conversations about studying, local art, and playing a cooperative board game. For each interaction, students compare three possible responses and identify the best, worst, and okay conversational choices. Students examine facial expressions and body language, identify emotions, consider what each person may be thinking, and learn how different responses can continue, or unintentionally end, a conversation. Some interactions include more than one person, helping students recognize that people in the same situation may have different feelings and thoughts. No audio is included yet. Skills Targeted: Making connected comments, asking relevant follow-up questions, staying on topic, showing interest in another person’s ideas, identifying best, okay, and worst responses, reading facial expressions and body language, identifying emotions, perspective-taking, understanding possible thoughts, recognizing different reactions to the same interaction, conversational repair, and improving unkind, vague, or partially connected responses.
