6.2 Confidence Intervals for the Mean (Small Samples)

Description: Practice constructing Confidence Intervals for the Mean (Small Samples) with these fun and interactive digital Boom task cards for Probability and Statistics. Students will need access to a TI-84 calculator in order to complete this Boom Card Deck (check the invT function on the TI-84 calculator to make sure students have access to the function). Students will first practice finding critical values (tc) with the TI-84 calculator and E (margin of error). Then students will use these skills to construct complete confidence intervals for the mean when given a small sample. In addition to finding the lower and upper bounds of the confidence interval, students will use Drag and Drop functionality to build the Calculator Formula used to construct the confidence interval: xbar +/- invT((1-c)/2, n-1)(s/Sqrt(n)) - where c is the level of confidence, xbar is the sample mean, s is the sample Standard Deviation, and n is the sample size. Boom Cards are NO PREP required and SELF-CHECKING. I use Boom Cards with all of my classes and my students LOVE them.
