Description: This is a 39-card Scavenger Hunt that covers the many different (and often unusual) pets owned by United States Presidents. During this activity, students will learn what animals Abraham Lincoln's son slept with, why Woodrow Wilson kept sheep on the White House lawn, who had a pet named Macaroni, and more. To complete the hunt, students are presented with a question with some possible answers. Then they read a short passage where the information can be found. They receive instant feedback on whether or not they chose the correct answer. The last slide of the hunt challenges students to write 3 interesting facts they learned from the hunt. It can be used as a Presidents Day activity, to supplement a study of U. S. History, to practice reading informational text, as a center, or as an easy lesson for a sub.
