Description: This game was created in response to students' requests for an R-game that isn't boring or babyish. Players move cards to reveal a color, animal or POW (the scary card that indicates the player has to return all cards to the board). Whoever matches all of the R-colors first, wins! If the player reveals an R-animal they say the name of the animal and return the card to the board. This is how the game is like "concentration" or a memory game. For a faster game, cards that reveal animals or POW can be placed in the discard pile. Each card is labeled R1-R20 so the student produces an additional R sound when requesting it. Although you can give remote control to students to move cards, more speech targets are achieved when the student requests each move and the therapist moves the cards. There is some flexibility so the rules of the game can be adapted to meet the therapist's goals. Each card, color, and animal has an R sound. There are 3 different board games so you could play 3 rounds without having the pictures in the same position. There is a card for fun at the end that has pictures to say. Many students just like saying the word "artichoke!"
