Help students or clients familiarize themselves with their AAC systems while practicing the core verb OPEN. This activity supports AAC users as they learn to find vocabulary, build short messages, and communicate using their device or communication system. Drill: OPEN This deck features 35 engaging images of jars containing a variety of familiar, surprising, and silly objects—from flowers and butterflies to rotten eggs, dog poop, and other unexpected items. Students repeatedly decide whether each jar should be opened or not opened, providing meaningful opportunities to practice the core verb OPEN. Students can respond using AAC and/or verbally. There is nothing to click—students respond on their AAC device, communication system, or verbally. AAC Language Targets May Include: open open it yes open no open not open don't open This resource supports: -Core vocabulary practice with the verb OPEN -AAC device familiarity and vocabulary navigation -Building single words and 2/3 word phrases -Practicing the preposition 'in' -Safety discussions about whether something should or should not be opened -Functional communication for speech therapy, special education, and AAC instruction This resource can also be used to build communication around prepositions, problem solving, and safety.
