Description: Life Skills: doing the laundry with AAC core vocabulary is an age appropriate interactive activity for jr. high/high school students who are learning life skills. I created this fun resource for my students who are in a jr. high functional skills classroom. They love it. With this you can work on: AAC and core vocabulary words: put, in, on, do, is, finished Labeling laundry related vocabulary Conversation skills Functional differences of washer and dryer Sequencing the necessary steps Literacy skills Each page follows a similar routine and is interactive. Students need to choose follow simple interactive steps teaching them about doing laundry. These cards provide a visual and interactive way for students with lower language skills to work on a life skill activity. Literacy is also a component of this activity. The cards are presented in a story format and students are helping Ashley to do her laundry. This gives them a way to connect with the story and connect this activity to real life. Make sure to ask students about who does the laundry at home. I'm also including a letter sort for the word "pantry" and a short one for the word "refrigerator". Studies have proven that it is important for our students with emergent pre-literacy skills to have literacy activities in a comprehensive manner ... not all separately. I'm really happy to include these components for our students. Literacy is for everyone.
