Description: For as long as I've been in practice, there is one thing I'm sure of, getting vowels correct to establish a solid foundation is essential. Once the child can produce and /a/ and an /u/, you can increase repertoire by working on this diphthong. This will open up a ton of words for them to achieve. There are very little materials out there, that focus on diphthongs. Contained in these cards are single syllable words containing /ou/ diphthongs. I recommend requesting the child to say the word and/or phrases up to 3 times, for up to 50-60 productions in one session. Decks are based off of the Motor Learning Theory (MLT) and work accomplished by Edyth Strand. MLT states multiple repetitions of consistent productions is essential to coordinate the motor movement between phonemes and word structures. The cards also contain options to increase from word to phrase to sentence level. Language concepts, giving directives, following directions, color concepts, size differentiations, pronoun use associations and categories can also easily be targeted in these cards as well. DIRECTIONS: Have the child move the items only. Feedback on production should be given verbally by SLP, then press 'next' button. Look out for more diphthong cards on the way.
