Description: These 36 task cards are differentiated and cover simplifying fractions which is also known as fractions in simplest form and reducing fractions. Cards 1 - 12 have a purple background and are the easiest cards. These questions are multiple choice and students are asked to select the correct answer given 4 options. Students are asked to find the greatest common factor (GCF) of 2 numbers to prepare for simplifying fractions. There are also some fill in the blank questions where students are asked to type either the numerator or denominator of the original or simplified fraction given a fraction model. Cards 13 – 24 have a green background and are a little more difficult. Students are asked to type the missing numerator or denominator of the simplified fractions. Some of the questions ask the students to type BOTH the numerator and denominator. Students are given the greatest common factor to divide the numerator and denominator by to help in simplifying the fraction. Cards 25 – 36 have a blue background and are the most challenging of the questions. Students are asked to type either the numerator and denominator or BOTH for the simplified fraction. The greatest common factor is not provided for these questions. These cards are aligned to the common core 3NF.A.1, 4.NF.A.1, AND 5.NF.A.1.
