Expanding Utterances: 2-Word Phrases (Action + Object) with Animated Everyday & Chore Verbs (GIFS)

Description: Students are presented with animated everyday and animated chore verb images (GIFs). Students are asked to form a phrase. Students are given a sentence starter to help students form 2-word phrases. Students are presented with the object and asked to form the 2-word phrase by filling in the correct verb. For example, students are given the sentence starter "____ teeth" and given 2 visual choices of verbs to fill in the sentence (e.g. brush/drink). This helps students form the 2-word phrases. The following animated Everyday and Chore Verbs are included in this activity to help students form the following 2-word phrases: - Read book - Eat cereal - Brush teeth - Brush Hair - Drink juice - Wash hair - Wash face - Sweep floor - Vacuum floor - Make Bed - Wash dishes - Wash window - Iron clothes - Feed dog - Mix food - Dust table Some of the following IEP goals can be targeted during the activity:- - Identifying and Labeling Everyday Verbs - Expanding Utterances and Increasing MLU - Pronouns (e.g. can ask students is it a girl or a boy and if its a he or she). - WH Questions (e.g. can ask students "what is he/she doing," where is he/she, "why would you wash windows, etc.)
