Description: Phonological awareness activity for middle sounds. Understanding that words have letters and letters have sounds. In this activity, the child or teacher is to say the picture shown (words provided as well) and then the child will say the sound they hear in the middle of the word. E.g. Tell me the sound you hear in the middle of the word "sun" ("uh"). Two Levels: 1. Without letters - use the flowers to tap out the sounds in the word. The child is to say the name of the sound when you/he touches the pink flower (the middle sound) 2. With letters - for those who know their letters and letter sounds, they can say the sound they hear while also seeing the letter that correlates with that sound (these slides are clickable)
