Description

Phonological awareness is a foundational early literacy skill that directly supports the ability to read, write and spell. Research consistently indicates that phonological awareness is one of the most reliable predictors of successful reading achievement. Within this skill set is rhyming which plays a key developmental role. Rhyming helps learners to hear individual sounds, recognize sound patterns, and understand how sounds blend together to form words. It also strengthens auditory memory, which fosters the acquisition of new vocabulary and overall language growth. Rhyme Pattern Recognition Practice gives students two ways to build rhyming skills: one activity uses pictures, and the other uses only written words. Students say each pair of words out loud and decide if they rhyme. When a pair rhymes, they mark the box beside it. To see if they’re correct, they simply click the box with the question mark.
