This is a Relevant or irrelevant , Receptive Language activity which requires a student to listen and decide which sentence in a verbal narrative does not belong. Cards start with one odd sentence with Irrelevant details in a group of 4 sentences and move on to more challenging narratives until the student can pick out one odd sentence in a group of nine sentences. This lesson can also be used when teaching Irrelevant information in conversation, Listening skills when working with any student who has difficulty Processing auditory information a Social Skills group if you have a student that has trouble staying on topic or a student who occasionally interjects loosely related, yet irrelevant information, when in conversation. Your students will receive a 42 card deck with 35 multiple choice cards with increasing difficulty, and 5 open ended cards at the end of the activity to help you gauge efficacy. The cards work well with any students grades 6-10 or best when used with students who have mild cognitive delays yet basic language skills.
