Description

Map skills are important life skills! Map skills help students to understand geographic representations, and to develop spatial awareness. Identifying cardinal directions is an important map skill because it helps students to develop orientation knowledge. This set of 30 digital task cards focuses on identifying cardinal directions while using a simplified map. Students are given a simplified map of a city, along with a color-coded compass. Students click on cardinal directions to fill in the blanks to describe the relative location of buildings. Students are then given immediate feedback. This deck provides visual supports, large fonts, color coding, and repetition (the same map is used throughout the task cards to support students with working memory deficits) in order to be more accessible for students with exceptional needs. While this deck was created with special education in mind, it could be used with various grade/ability levels. Please sample this deck to determine if it would be an appropriate resource for your students. Thank you!
