Are you searching for a way to personalize the periodic table of elements for your students? Most kids will remember information longer if they know how it MATTERS in their world. Real-world examples of elements are included so kids can understand why chemistry matters in their own lives. From the oxygen in their lungs to the salt on their French fries, your kids will care a little bit more about science once they begin to see it in common items. This deck covers the first twenty elements only. Formal science vocabulary is combined with kid-friendly explanations. There are twenty-four questions, plus two additional slides that show the first twenty elements in a simple table for quick reference. The simple table contains individual elements paired with images that best reflect where they are found commonly. Another two slides are also included showing both uncovered pictures. This deck is best used with students that need a little extra motivation, a gentle introduction to the periodic table, or for extra help. My fifth graders loved answering these questions as an introduction to measuring volume, mass and density. When we studied electrical circuits, the kids understood the concepts with greater depth and complexity due in part to this brief overview of basic elements in addition to a mini explanation of electrons. Whether you are teaching face-to-face or from a distance, these uncover the picture questions will help your kids see their lives through the lens of science.
