Description

drop e spelling rule practice with morpheme manipulation 12 sound & morpheme manipulation cards using -er and -en This set has some words where the vowel sound in the base word changes when adding suffixes (drive - driver - driven). The "sound variation" monster (used in other morphology decks in this store) explains this concept. Here's the story. Meet our vowel eel. He loves collecting e’s, but can only get them if you drop them for him. Does your base word end in an E? Maybe you can make our eel happy! Only if that suffix begins with a vowel such as -ING or -ED Eel is especially afraid of our most common suffix -s, the snake. Snake protects the consonant suffixes. Don’t anger that snake by dropping an e when you don’t need to! *Students will need to determine if e needs to be dropped or not with a simple mixed set of suffixes (-ed vs. -s) 6 spelling words practicing e-drop (or no drop) with -en and -er Students are encouraged to "check the board" for spelling help. Audio on each slide, including the spelling words and sentences to tie in meaning.
