Description: Linguistic competency, the ability to think about and manipulate language, requires robust phonologic, orthographic, and semantic representation. Linguistic Competence through Word Analysis: Words in Words focuses on building linguistic competence by strengthening awareness and comprehension of phonologic, orthographic, and semantic representation through the analysis and identification of letter patterns within multisyllabic words. Students read each multisyllabic word and then are challenged to find as many other words as possible within that multisyllabic. Once they write the words they find, they check for answers underneath the magnifying glass.
