This deck serves as the final step in assessing whether students have truly mastered figurative language. By interpreting authentic Shakespeare quotes, students apply their understanding of figurative forms, nonliteral language, expressions, and literal vs. figurative meaning in a more challenging literary context. Success with these famous quotations demonstrates that students can transfer their figurative language skills beyond everyday examples and into classic literature. Your students will receive 29 cards which consist of 14 Multiple Choice cards and 14 common quotes. The cards work well with older students (Grades 8-10) or best when used with students who have mild cognitive delays yet good language skills. An independent lesson will take about 25 minutes however if you are using it as a teaching tool during instruction the lesson can easily fill 60 minutes with breaks in between for group discussion. When I use this lesson with my Speech classroom it takes two sessions (60 minutes).
