Description: This is a self-correcting deck (with the exception of the create your own pattern cards). It has 20 cards that include non-numeric repeating patterns. Most questions provide students with two to four options to chose from. The last three cards involve drag and drop and fill-in-the-blank. There are audio instructions included. It asks students to: ~ identify the repeating pattern type by naming the core (3 cards) ~identify the repeating pattern by using letters to represent it (e.g. AB, ABC, AAB, AABC, etc), (4 cards) ~name what attributes are changing in a pattern (size, shape, direction, colour) (3 cards) ~use pattern rules to extend patterns, and identify missing elements in patterns. (7 cards) ~create their own pattern using shapes or pictures provided (must be manually corrected) (3 cards) It would be most appropriate for grade 1 but it is also a good starting point for Grade 2.
