Description: These Tier 2 vocabulary words are essential, academic vocabulary words that all students need to know. In my classroom, we call these pop-up words because they pop up on tests, textbooks, assignments and other classroom materials. Students begin by reading a sentence and then find the meaning of the words using context clues and a visual. Students are given 4 possible definitions for each of the words.
