Description: 5 interactive, high interest reading comprehension passages with questions. The engaging passage topics are about weird things people have done in history. Questions include WH questions, Text evidence (students have to drag & drop the highlight onto the text), inferencing, main idea & details, tier 2 vocabulary, and writing/discussion prompts with scenarios requiring students to use what they learned within the passage to construct a lengthier open-ended response using details from the text. Total of 88 slides. The 5 passages are: 1. Waterloo Teeth: People used teeth from dead (or living) people to make dentures. 2. Lawn Chair Larry: Larry strapped weather balloons to his lawn chair and soared 3 miles up in the sky. 3. Artistic Farting: Flatulists amused crowds with their artistic farting skills. 4. Knocker-Uppers: The human alarm clocks. 5. Foot-binding: Chinese women made their feet 3-4 inches long to look beautiful and attract a husband. FORMAT: Passages are between 6-7 paragraphs in length. Each passage contains from 12-27 questions, which are incorporated throughout the passage, not at the end. The passage is always presented next to the questions for easy reference to avoid having to click back and forth (avoids frustration).
