Description
This activity is the same as "Expanding Utterances for Pets" but with pronouns for emerging readers and students ready to learn pronouns. This activity was designed to encourage students to expand their mean length of utterance with visual supports and motivating puzzle pieces. Pictures are simple and depict people engaging in various actions involving pets (e.g., walking, washing, petting and holding). The repetitive nature and predictability of this task are ideal for students with autism or students with limited verbal skills. The adult is encouraged to modify the language to meet the needs and level of the child (e.g., "boy playing guitar" vs. "The boy is playing with the guitar").
