Naming Items in a Category 1 Categories are a group of items with common characteristics. Working on categories with children is very important because many of our day-to-day functional activities rely on one's ability to organize things - from the simple packing away of toys for young children to sorting items in a grocery store for a working adult. This first Boom Learning deck in a series of three Categorization decks targets a child's ability to name items in a given category. It contains 10 categories (concrete concepts for beginners), which teaches divergent naming, deductive reasoning, and building and expanding vocabulary.
