The Hot Cross Bun model (originally developed by Padesky & Mooney, 1990) is a CBT model that explores the links between thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, and behaviour within a specific situation. While your student or client may already understand that people have thoughts, experience feelings, and act in different ways, the fourth component—interoceptive awareness or body signals—is often an emerging skill for many young people, especially those with developmental differences. Part A: Let’s Explore Feelings, Thoughts, Body Clues, and Actions helps young learners examine these four components within everyday situations. Through this framework, learners practice identifying and labelling their feelings and body clues, while you support them to communicate full thoughts and action statements. To extend their learning, prompt learners to make predictions or discuss alternative choices, exploring how the Hot Cross Bun responses change as a result.
