Description: This deck lets students practice spelling two-syllable words that follow the "Camel" or "Robin" Rule (VC / VC). In these words, the consonant between the vowels goes with the first vowel, closing in the syllable and giving it a short vowel sound. What's included: All words have two syllables, both closed with short vowel sounds. Words may also contain blends and digraphs. There are 21 cards in total, one that explains the camel rule, and 20 spelling cards. How it works: Kids see a picture and hear a word, then they type the word in the box. Audio support is included for the Rule page as well. This activity is part of my Camel Rule Bundle, which also includes a syllable division deck and a word-building deck. This bundle is a great complement to your Orton-Gillingham or other Structured Literacy program! Please note that all words with a "schwa" in the second syllable have been pronounced with an exaggerated short vowel sound to aid students in spelling these sounds correctly. If they have done the first two decks in the Camel Rule Bundle (Syllable Division and Word Building), they will have had additional practice with all of these words and are more likely to be successful.
