This set of 20 task cards will give students practice with using the compensation strategy to subtract across zeros. Each card contains a 3-digit by 3-digit or 3-digit by 2-digit subtraction equation. Students must use the compensation strategy (subtract 1 from each of the numbers in the equation). Students use the subtraction equation they created to subtract without regrouping or borrowing. Students type the answer to the subtraction equation they created in the lily pads at the bottom of the equation. The first card models the correct way to use compensation to show students how to complete each card. ⭐This download is the AUDIO version.
