This Boom Deck was made to help students identify sarcasm in writing. Sarcasm can be difficult to identify without intonation. Looking at these pictures students need to determine if the statement is sarcastic or serious, explain their response, and then they are asked to rewrite the statement. If sarcasm was used, students need to write a statement that is not sarcastic. If sarcasm was not used, students need to write a sarcastic statement. Most of the statements are sarcastic. There is a card to briefly explain sarcasm and then there are 30 cards with real pictures. This is great for working on social skills and pragmatics.
