This is a 23-card high-interest scavenger hunt that will teach students facts about some unusual trees that grow on Earth. While completing the hunt, students will learn why a Joshua tree really isn't a tree, which tree is called an "upside down tree", how a Dahurian larch tree is different from most conifers, and more. To complete the hunt, students are presented with a question with some possible answers. Then they read a passage where the information to answer the question can be found. They receive instant feedback on whether or not they chose the correct answer. The final card in the deck challenges students to write 3 interesting things they learned from the hunt. This deck would be a great activity for Arbor Day, as an addition to any lesson involving natural resources or trees, as practice for reading informational text, a science lesson or center, and would make an easy lesson for a sub.
