Description: These 40 Phoneme Substitution Boom Cards™ task cards will help students develop phonemic awareness. Although this skill usually takes place orally using direct and explicit instruction, it is helpful to reinforce this skill through games and activities. Students will change the first, middle, or ending sounds in words to make new words. Then, they will choose the picture that matches the new word. The directions for each card are automatically read aloud to the students, although they can turn this feature off. They click on their answer choice to find out if they got it right or if they need to try again. Instant gratification! Students get a random selection of 20 cards each time they play. This random selection will pick cards the student has seen less frequently over cards they’ve seen more frequently so they won’t always see repeats.
