Description: Vowel discrimination can be very tricky! Looking for more practice opportunities for your students to determine the middle vowel sound they hear? Try these “Middle Vowel Sounds” Boom Cards! This deck includes all of the short vowel sounds. Given 4 pictures, students will need to determine which word has the given short vowel sound in the middle of the word. All words are CVC words. When I use Boom Cards in my classroom, I want my students to be able to use them COMPLETELY independently. For this reason I have included a directions card at the beginning complete with audio. I have also included an audio option for each of the picture choices. This will help support students who may struggle with vocabulary as well as eliminate the need for students to come up to you and ask “What is this a picture of?” This deck of Boom Cards would be a great way to review middle vowel sounds at the beginning of the year, practice hearing the short vowel sound after learning about all of vowels in your CVC unit or differentiate for students who may be working to catch up to grade level skills.
