This is a 39-card scavenger hunt that covers the life an accomplishments of 19 different authors of children's books. In this digital hunt students will learn why Leo Lionni started using collage to create illustrations, which Chris Van Allsburg books have been turned into movies, what kinds of books Jon Scieska likes to write, what Jan Brett always does before she writes a book, and more. Authors covered in this hunt include Lane Smith, Arnold Lobel, Beverly Cleary, A. A. Milne, Leo Lionni, E. B. White, Chris Van Allsburg, Beatrix Potter, Shel Silverstein, Theodor Seuss Geisel, David Wiesner, Don Freeman, Eric Carle, James Marshall, Jan Brett, Jon Scieska, Maurice Sendak, Mo Willems, and William Steig. To complete the hunt, students read a multiple-choice question. Then they read a passage that will help them answer the question. Students receive instant feedback on whether or not they chose the correct answer. The final card in the deck challenges students to write 3 interesting things they learned from the hunt. It can be used as a Read Across America activity, to practice reading informational text, or as an easy activity for a sub.
