Description: Students will practice adding two two-digit numbers in this fun, scaffolded activity. Students will see a two-digit by two-digit addition problem on each card. They will show all of their work directly on the card as they solve the problem. Scaffolds: - Touch-dot numbers on the smaller of the numerals in each column - Column (place value) guides - Regrouping boxes over the tens place - Arrow pointing to the starting column (ones place) *This deck is designed for students in the upper grades because the touch-dots are only on the smaller of the two numbers in each column. Students will need to use the "counting on" strategy by saying the higher number, and then counting on using the touch-dots on the smaller number. Decks with touch-dots on BOTH numbers are also available in my store for younger/ beginning students. Standards: 2.NBT.6 Add up to four two-digit numbers using strategies based on place value and properties of operations. 2.NBT.7 Add and subtract within 1,000… Understand that in adding or subtracting three-digit numbers, …sometimes it is necessary to compose or decompose tens or hundreds. 3.NBT.2 Fluently add and subtract within 1,000 using strategies and algorithms 4.NBT.4 Fluently add and subtract multi-digit whole numbers using a standard algorithm
