Description: Cycle through 4 types of activities that are aligned with the science of reading to build orthographic mapping skills, strengthen phonemic awareness, and promote whole word memorization of high frequency words. This activity deck targets CV words ending in -ay (in order): say, may, ray, pay, day, lay, way, hay (8 target words total) Stage 1) Learn the word - students must listen & say the word; drag & drop to spell the word; listen & say a simple sight word sentence. Students can hear the sentence read fluently, or tap to hear each word individually *NEW FEATURE* the letters in drag& drop spelling can be tapped to hear letter names -- on computer this will auto-play when dragged. Stage 2) Sight Word Hunt - students must find the target sight word multiple times (in different fonts) - this promotes self-monitoring for ALL letters and helps break the habit of partial cue guessing, as incorrect answers may have the same first or last letter as the target word! Stage 3A) Match the word you hear - students must select the correct sight word based on the audio they hear (field of 6) Stage 3B) Which Word? - students must select the correct sight word based on the audio they hear (field of 2 - answer choices have commonly confused differences ex. pay vs. day) **each target sight word has one dedicated Stage 1 & Stage 2 slide, which are then followed by multiple Stage 3 slides.
