Target subordinating conjunctions, complex sentence formulation, syntax, and expressive language with this Halloween-themed Boom Card deck designed for middle school speech-language therapy! Students are presented with two Halloween-themed sentences and asked to identify the relationship between the ideas before combining them into one grammatically correct complex sentence using an appropriate subordinating conjunction. On each card, students are prompted to determine how the two ideas are related by selecting from a visual field of four answer choices: 1. REASON — Why something happens 2. CONDITION — Under what condition something happens 3. TIME — When something happens 4. CONTRAST — How ideas are different or unexpected After identifying the relationship, students practice combining the two sentences using an appropriate subordinating conjunction.
