Expanding Utterances: Identifying and Labeling Object Function Christmas Present Activity

Description: This activity targets expressive and receptive object function. Students are asked to identify objects by their function. Students are presented with 2 visual choices at a time. Each choice is in an opened present box. After, students are presented with the WH question "what do you do with a ___." Students are presented with a carrier phrase (e.g. I ____ with scissors) to help students expand their utterances while answering the WH question. Students are asked to drag and drop the correct answer to the question into the blank space to help expand their utterances. This activity helps students identify and label object functions as well as form longer utterances when answering WH questions about object function.
