Description: OUGH words are some of the hardest for kids to master, but this deck can help. It includes a huge variety of activities to practice these irregular high-frequency words. Great for Orton Gillingham or other structured literacy approaches, as all activities are consistent with the science of reading and facilitate the process of orthographic mapping. What's Included: This deck includes 13 of the most common words with OUGH: dough, though, bought, fought, thought, brought, ought, cough, rough, tough, enough, through, and drought. Kids practice them 6 different ways: 1) TRACE: See & hear the word, then trace it three times. Kids can use the ink feature or simply trace with a finger. 2) COPY: See a picture, hear & see the word, then type it 3 times. 3) BUILD: Drag graphemes into boxes to spell the word. The "red" part that must be memorized goes in the heart. 4) UNSCRAMBLE: Drag individuals letters to spell the word 5) SPELL: See the picture, hear the word & type it in the box. 6) USE IT IN A SENTENCE: Kids see a picture, hear the word and must write a sentence of their own. PLEASE NOTE: This section requires teacher grading. You can also have students skip these cards or you can hide them. (You can't hide cards if you are using Fast Pin.) There are also sound sorting cards (sort by the sound OUGH makes), fun facts about word origin & a quiz at the end! Standards: RF.3.3d, RF.2.3e, RF.2.3f
