Description: This product is also available as part of a bundle at a savings of 40% early, intermediate, and advanced levels for a total of 298 words. This activity includes 98 words (49 pairs of opposite concepts).  This is the early/basic level  with concepts geared toward students in grades PK - K. Students practice identification and naming of antonyms as they engage in a matching game (NOTE: this is not a memory game). Rules for play: This game is for 2-4 players. Player 1 begins by choosing a holiday symbol to move to the discard pile. The student names the concept underneath (ex. dry, hot, open, around), and then predicts/names the antonym for the concept uncovered (ex. wet, cold, closed, through). Each player only moves 1 card per turn. Player 2 takes a turn and moves a holiday symbol to the discard pile.  If the card uncovered is an opposite match to ANY of the concepts already discovered, that player receives the point. If the card does not match another card already uncovered, the player simply names the concept and its antonym, and play continues to the next person. Depending on the platform used, the adult may annotate the points by circling each player's matches in different colors (ex. player 1 = green), or the adult may simply keep score (1 point per match).  This deck contains 5 games. Scores can be added cumulatively throughout the deck, or a winner can be declared after each card.
