Word Mix Ups -Sounds in Words : Thinking with Language uses 'spoonerisms' as a fun activity that encourages linguistic flexibility and competency. Students read words, switch the required letters, then write and read the new correct words in the short phrases. Sometimes our brains go faster than our mouths and we switch letters or sounds in words as we speak. Spoonerisms can be great fun and sometimes the change in the words being said are very funny!
