Description
This 37-card scavenger hunt that will teach teach students some of the Christmas traditions that take place around the world. While completing the hunt, students will learn why spiders are a symbol of good luck in the Ukraine, the similarities and differences between the Italian Befana and Santa, what activity Swedish families participate in at 3:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve, and more. To complete the hunt, students answer 18 multiple-choice questions. First, they read a question and its possible answers. Then they read a passage where the answer is found. If they choose the correct answer, they are directed to the next question. If they choose an incorrect answer, they can revisit the passage to find the correct one. The final card in the deck challenges students to write 3 interesting things they learned from the hunt. It can be used as a Christmas activity, to supplement a study of different cultures, to provide background information for a story, to practice reading informational text, for social studies or reading centers, or as an easy activity for a sub.
