Practice basic similes and metaphors in figurative language with these true or false cards in a fun and engaging way. These can be used in stations, as homework, or as a quick practice activity. The first card is an explainer card that teaches the difference between similes and metaphors. In the BASIC LEVEL, the key words “like”, “is”, and “as”, are highlighted in red to help them decide if the sentence is a simile or metaphor. In this LEVEL 2, the key words “like”, “is”, and “as”, are NOT highlighted in red. LEVEL 3 is for more challenging practice. Each card has a sentence and two choices for the answer. This practice deck meets the Common Core Anchor Standard for Language, L.5, Demonstrate understanding of figurative language, word relationships, and nuances in word meanings.
