Description: This activity is part of my First Work then Play Series. Do you have students that struggle with alternating their attention between work and play? If so, this resource is for you! In this series, children practice their targets first and then play a game. If you like this activity, check out A Pirates Life for Me: Final Consonant Deletion /m/, /n/, /p/, /t/ or A Pirates Life for Me: Language Bundle! Your students will LOVE it! This resource is pirate themed and includes 10 initial /sp/ targets. Students of ALL ages love the surprise element of this game yet it is SIMPLE enough to use with your early learners. First Work: Model/elicit your targets. Child repeats each target word five times. Then Play: Player 1 picks a treasure chest to see if there is a piece of gold under it. If there is, they drag and drop it to the box labeled Player 1 and their turn ends. If there isn’t, it is Player 2’s turn. Player 2 picks a treasure chest to see if there is a piece of gold under it. If there is, Player 2 drags and drops it to the box labeled Player 2 and their turn ends. If there isn’t, it is Player 1’s turn. Treasure chests can be discarded by swiping them off the left or right side of the page. Play continues until all the treasure chests are gone. Player with the most pieces of gold wins! Follow me to stay on top of all the freebies I post as well as any new resources! As always, happy learning!
