In this 20 card deck, students simplify expressions using the four operations. These expressions contain variables and basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts, making this a perfect deck to introduce simplifying expressions or use this as a resource for students who struggle with higher level math computations. The answers are set up to include spaces and no spaces between each term and symbol. Also, students can also switch the order when listing the terms in the simplified expression. Challenge students to use the inverse of the distributive property when simplifying. This deck has been created to be inclusive to answers to support your diverse learners. For example, the expression 8b + 4 + 2b will accept the following answers: 10b + 4 10b+4 4 + 10b 4+10b 2(5b + 2) 2(5b+2) CCSS-Aligned: CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.5.OA.A.1 Use parentheses, brackets, or braces in numerical expressions, and evaluate expressions with these symbols.
