How to give compliments is a set of 46 cards for working on generating and giving compliments for middle and high school students. Includes: Student self-rating and check-mark T/F knowledge check or pre-test. The social narrative defines compliments, explores back-handed compliments, encourages varied and authentic compliments and teaches the steps involved. Vocabulary: students sort synonyms & antonyms for compliments in a drag and drop activity. Real photographs of middle and high school students are used in the product. There are three intervention tiers: 1. Binary choice: Student identifies compliments as bucket fillers or bucket dippers (back-handed compliments). 2. Multiple choice: Student chooses the best answer from four choices after viewing the picture and reading the compliment scenario. 3. Open-ended responses: Student reviews the picture and scenario and types in a sincere compliment, records themselves using a sincere voice giving the compliments and plays it back, rating their response for whether or not the tone sounded sincere. End of lesson review. There is a home page, arrows for navigation and optional audio directions for struggling readers.
