Description: This is a 41-card scavenger hunt that can be used to teach students about the Native Americans that were first encountered by the white man as he settled in America. While completing the hunt, students will learn about the lives and accomplishments of 20 different Native Americans. This hunt covers Sitting Bull, Sacagawea, Geronimo, Chief Joseph, Red Cloud, Chief Powhatan, Quanah Parker, Dahteste, Lozen, Crazy Horse, Hiawatha, Woman Chief, Pocahontas, Pontiac, Running Eagle, Sequoyah, Squanto, Tecumseh, Black Hawk, and Sitting Bear. Each card covers a single individual from the time of their birth to their death and tells about their skills, positions, and interactions with white people. Students receive instant feedback on whether or not they chose the correct answer. The final card in the deck challenges students to write 3 interesting things they learned from the hunt. It can be used as a Native American Heritage month activity, to supplement a study of American history or Native Americans, to enhance the understanding of a story, or practice for reading informational text.
