Description
Build number sense and addition fact fluency with this addition activity. Virtual manipulatives for modeling and solving equations guide students through the addition process to build a strong understanding prior to higher-level skills. Building flexibility with numbers less than five is essential when the goal is number sense. Kindergarten and first-grade students should be given significant experience manipulating numbers within five. The skills and strategies they learn at this early stage will eventually be applied to addition and subtraction of larger numerals. Each card features a horizontal equation and set of sums within five. Students count the dots under the numerals to solve the equation! Select the correct sum to advance to the next card! Sums are color-coded for additional support (red is odd/blue is even-color matches answer box). Twenty-one cards with one equation on each card.
