Description

This activity focuses on understanding the value of the Canadian nickel. Money amounts up to 20 cents are shown using nickels. Visual representations will aid the student to understand that 5 cents correspond to one nickel, 10 cents correspond to two nickels, etc. Furthermore, the student will follow directions to place a given money amount in a jar or piggy back (e.g., take two nickels to make 10 cents). Last, an item of a given price is shown and the student will select the correct money amount to pay for it. Real pictures of Canadian coins are used throughout the activity.
