Description: This songbook includes a thematic summer-themed song sung to the tune of "Where is Thumbkin" or "Frere Jacques." Two versions of the song are included: one with the song only and a second version with suggested movement actions, for students working on motor imitation. Included extension activities targets include: imitating actions, summer-themed vocabulary, prepositions, where questions, and object function questions. Examples of core vocabulary in this song or extension activities: where, in front, behind, under, on, next to, play, etc. This song is perfect for a circle time activity, whole-group activity, push-in language activity, small-group activity, or during one-on-one therapy sessions with early language users, preschoolers, and/or young AAC users. Simple songs sung to familiar tunes are an effective tool when targeting imitation actions and creating verbal routines with students. In my experience, singing early language songs can increase student engagement when targeting core vocabulary for AAC users and student developing their functional language skills.
