Tangram puzzles can help develop stronger problem-solving abilities and is a fun way to engage kids in perceptual planning activities. What is a tangram? Invented in China approximately 200 years ago, a tangram is a two-dimensional re-arrangement puzzle created by cutting a square into seven pieces -- seven geometric shapes called "tans" (Slocum et. al. 2003) This Spatial Planning Tangram resource is designed to support children's spatial perceptual development. It was created by an occupational therapist and includes a variety of tangram activities. It provides lots of opportunities to develop spatial awareness and support spatial planning and problem solving skills. Suitable for use from 5 years and older. Activities is graded for easy use. This is the third in a series of Spatial Perception Resources.
