Description

This is a 39-card high-interest scavenger hunt that can be used to teach students some interesting facts about reading, language, and books. In this hunt students will learn what the oldest book in the word is, why Andrew Carnegie earned the title Patron Saint of Libraries, how old Louis Braille was when he created the system of reading and writing used by the blind today, which letter of the alphabet is used the most, and more. To complete the hunt, students read a multiple-choice question. Then they read a passage to find the answer to the question. Students receive instant feedback on whether or not they chose the correct answer. The final card in the deck challenges students to write 3 interesting things they learned from the hunt. It can be used as a Read Across America or back-to-school activity, practice for reading informational text, centers, or as an easy lesson for a sub.
